Fundraising and Partnership Manager - Financial Inclusion - 2015



The Fundraising Manager (FM) will report to the Head of Global Partnerships and be part of the Global Partnerships Team within the office of the AFI Executive Director. The FM will take a leadership role in prospecting, identifying, engaging and raising funds from likeminded funding partners for AFI programs and offerings. He/she will work with staff across departments to identify and secure new sustainable sources of funding as well as proactively work to strengthen and scale up relationships with existing donors.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Update AFI’s fundraising strategy and play a central role in the implementation of that strategy, together with the AFI Management Team

  • Research, identify, and engage likeminded donors and investment partners leading to increased income from new funding sources

  • Systematically scan the political, economic and thematic landscape related to current and potential funders, and identify changes and emerging opportunities to maximize funding revenue

  • Work with AFI Regional Coordinators to leverage funding possibilities at regional level

  • Embed an effective methodology and process flow for coordinating information and input for donor proposals from multiple sources, ensuring timely submission of quality proposals

  • Ensure that the AFI Client Relationship Management System (CRM) for Donors and Partners is maintained and systematically updated

  • Help to conceptualize, launch and manage an online (Yammer) portal for external partners

  • Contribute to production of donor reports and ensure their timely delivery to funders

Expected Outcome


  • A comprehensive fundraising strategy for 2015-18 with a strong pipeline of perspective funding partners is drafted, approved and updated regularly

  • Likeminded donor partners are engaged, leading to substantial new secured funding

  • Current partners, including funders, are well informed and engaged in AFI’s work and activities, ensuring sustained strong political, intellectual and funding support

  • Necessary partner engagement materials are developed

  • Online portal for AFI’s partners and stakeholders launched and proactively maintained

Qualifications


  • Masters in development studies, business administration, or related field preferred

  • Minimum of 7 years work experience directly related to fundraising and donor engagement

  • Comprehensive understanding of the current donor landscape, funding trends and priorities, engagement strategies and innovations; fundraising experience in the financial sector preferred

  • Results driven with demonstrated success in securing substantial funding from diverse sources

  • Energetic, entrepreneurial, proactive with excellent relationship and influencing/negotiation skills

  • Exceptional English writing, presentation and reporting skills with additional language skills preferred

  • Strong marketing and external communications skills

  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication and in working with people from diverse cultures

  • Technical expertise in Microsoft Office, client relationship management systems and social media

  • Ability to work in a flexible, changing environment and perform effectively under pressure
