Job-Role: Database Administrator

Level 3 Some experience. Can perform with assistance. Performs independently in routine situations.

Level 1 No experience. Limited knowledge.
Level 0 No experience. No knowledge.
Database System Administrator
• Troubleshooting Database Software
• Create/maintain database software
• Create/maintain database instance(s)
• Create/alter database(s) and its objects
• Perform backup/restore to keep data recovery possibilities
• Export/Import data on request
• Copy/refresh database
• Migrate database
• Control database access
• Secure database and its environment
• Audit activities
• Analyze database related performance problems
• Tune database parameters
On the other hand:
• Gives database related proposals to the customer.
• Gets in contact to the database support team if database bug/issue found.
Scopes:
– Physical Administration of DB instance
– Standard DB capacity management
– Implement physical DB changes in support of normal data growth
– Maintain operational DB documentation
– Perform DB support activities to implement changes (changes ordered separately)
– Participate DB backup and recovery requirements and overall strategy
– Write and test DB backup scripts
– Installation of new DB version, limited to one Version or Release upgrade per year per DB instance
– Application relevant Administration of DB instance
– Design logical DB is already done
– Logical DB support, e.g. creating database schema table and index creation
– Application relevant monitoring for bottlenecks (if it is ordered separately)
– Performance analysis and tuning
– Administration of Oracle Application users e.g. add, change, reset, delete
– DB job scheduler , e.g. monitoring-, scheduling of database jobs
– Define DB backup and recovery requirements and overall strategy is already done
– DB reorganization
– Standard Monitoring
– Standard procedures
– Performance management (physical DB configuration)
– System changes
– the Design logical DB
– testing the restored data
– 7*24 application support
