job description

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide software maintenance and technical support for existing applications and provide continuing user support.


• Ensure all databases are secured, optimized and available as per agreed business requirements.


• Manage and support regular backups of data and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.


• Monitor performance and manage all database parameters, optimize queries to improve response times for users.


• Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security is optimal.


• Prepare database and systems documentation, including data standards, procedures.


• Perform other duties as required.

Functional Knowledge and Skills

• In-depth technical knowledge of relational database systems, including SQL server administration and support, SQL programming and Windows server operating system


• Excellent understanding of the .NET platform and ability to troubleshoot problems related to deployment and testing


• Ability to maintain complex scripts for systems deployment, operation and maintenance


• Knowledge of a range of computer languages and development paradigms including web development


• Strong working knowledge of systems management, performance tuning and monitoring tools

Education Qualifications

Essential

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or a closely related field

Desirable

• Relevant professional training and/or certification related to Microsoft SQL server and ASP.net.

Experience

Essential

• A minimum of 3 years professional experience in supporting a range of computer applications including web-based computer information systems and MS SQL databases.

Desirable

• Familiarity with the LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL and PHP) web development platform would be an asset.


• Excellent command of both spoken and written English
