Job Description

The major responsibilities of the UNIX Administration, Technical Services position encompasses Service Delivery, Delivery Operations and includes:

• This role is for enterprise automation initiatives dealing with a large UNIX and LINUX fleet.

• Assist in defining, installing and maintaining midrange unix servers.

• Ability to lead from a technical perspective enterprise wide automation projects.

• Lead solution design and development of automation initiatives.

• Undertake lead role in proactive resolution of system related problems.

• Suggests and/or implements solutions to resolve problems and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

• Interfaces with 3rd party support vendors for problem resolution.

• Gather information to assist in the analysis of client business

• With assistance, providing second level technical support for complex problems in an operational environment

• Administer central and/or distributed computer systems.

• Assist with the identification of problems related to product/service installation, update, configuration, operations, performance, or other aspects of information technology products and services.

• Will be exposed to occasional irregular working hours and after hours support.

• Perform duties as requested by management.

• Strong Documentation & Presentation skills

• Be able to follow rigorous change and incident management process

• Good knowledge of SUN UNIX hardware platforms particularly E25K JMX, PERL, XML, Bash and Ops Centre Skills

• Strong UNIX and LINUX fundamentals

• Good understanding of software upgrade/migration process

• Assume knowledge of the underlying infrastructure (NAS, SAN, ,VxVM, VCS)

• Tivoli Monitoring and deployment

• Windows scripting – VB, javascript, batch

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of SUN UNIX hardware platforms particularly E25K JMX, PERL, XML, Bash and Ops Centre Skills


• Strong UNIX and LINUX fundamentals


• Good understanding of software upgrade/migration process


• Assume knowledge of the underlying infrastructure (NAS, SAN, ,VxVM, VCS)


• Tivoli Monitoring and deployment


• Windows scripting – VB, javascript, batch


• Have more than 5 year working experience in Unix Solaris
