Associate Destination Manager
The Expedia Local Expert line of business sells activities and services including theme park tickets, theatre shows, tours, attractions, ground transfers, and airport parking to consumers before they leave on their trips via the Expedia websites globally.
Associate Destination Managers are Expedia's single point of contact for Expedia Local Expert partners in an assigned territory. This position has daily interaction with external partners, other members of the Expedia Local Expert Team, and internal managers for multiple lines of business.
Specific responsibilities include:
Managing a specific geographic area to ensure Expedia Local Expert products are available for booking on Expedia, Inc. points of sale by our customers. The individual should be capable of developing a business plan to grow bookings and revenue in the designated markets and then implement that plan. Working with supply partners to ensure Expedia has access to the most competitive pricing for their offerings and that information is up to date and accurate. Manage supplier relations specific to content accuracy/changes, expiring rates, accounting discrepancies and customer service escalations from the call center.

Developing new partner relationships and bringing new Expedia Local Expert products into the portfolio. 25

Position Description
The Associate Market Manager is a market-based role responsible for building revenue growth and developing and sustaining strong hotel partner relationships within their assigned markets. This includes negotiating favorable inventory rates and allocations at property level, and driving key activities that support Expedia's revenue goals and strategic objectives. The core focus for this position is to drive revenue and room night performance for a defined area through managing a portfolio of local lodging suppliers in their market in an effort to build a sustainable long term relationship resulting in superior revenue results and inventory supply.

Deliver revenue and/or acquisition goals through management of inventory, content, rates and supplier relations through negotiation of best inventory and most strategically competitive rates in the assigned market. Secure inventory through on-going account management during acquisition and renewal

Promote Expedia's full suite of products offerings and key initiatives to partners and educate them on the full use of our products and tools
Act as liaison between partners and other Expedia functional areas to train and educate partners on the various Expedia tools, connectivity solutions, payment and billing alternatives, and other partner facing Expedia systems or services
Coordinate with other Expedia teams and functional areas to create and implement innovative business solutions aimed at building a strong market presence, merchandising, and attractive value propositions
Lead the development and execution of overall market business plans, and ensure Expedia has a long-term business strategy to deepen our position in the assigned market/territory

Required Skills & Experience

2-4 years related industry experience and college degree; or equivalent degree in Hospitality or Revenue Management
Demonstrated understanding of how to match market demand and supply

Strong written and oral communication skills; including fundamental presentation skills and the demonstrated ability to articulate ideas clearly and appropriately influence others
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The Area Manager (AM) is responsible for leading a team responsible for the account management, strategy implementation, and planning within an independent market geography. Continually coach and provide best practices and recommendations to direct and skip-level reports

Required Skills & Experience

Undergraduate degree in hospitality management; MBA preferred
4-6 years of hospitality industry experience with people management and revenue responsibilities

The IUCN/SSC African Elephant Specialist Group (AfESG) maintains the African Elephant Database (AED). The Data Review Working Group (DRWG) of the AfESG oversees the AED, and all issues relating to the management of data on elephant distribution and numbers collected by, stored by, managed by, or disseminated by the AfESG. The AED consists of a PostGIS relational database, with a web-based data acquisition and visualization front end (http://elephantdatabase.org/). Ruby on Rails and Google Fusion Tables are used in the web components.
