Tivoli Storage Manager Technical Specialist Job Description Perform Backup and Recovery Administration (TSM)

• Investigate Missed/Failed BackUps


•  Resolve Miss/Fail Backup — Server


• Troubleshoot Tape drive/library


• Monitor Miss/Fail of BackUp Application scheduled Backups


• Perform Backup Server Healthcheck


• Restart failed BackUps


• Perform BUR Library Maintenance/ Fix/Management


• Performance tune Backup Server • Perform tape management activities


• Initialize BUR Tape Media Volumes


• Configure/Test BUR Storage


• IPL tape library


• Schedule backups via Backup Server


• Configure/test /install BUR Software – Backup Server


• Add client/node


• DECOMmission/Unschedule client/node


• Add advanced backup Infrastructure server (including client code)


• Add complex backup Infrastructure server


• DECOMmission backup Infrastructure server


• Verify Security posture


• Implement Security posture


• Perform library media audit


• Perform Backup Data Audit


• Manage DR (Disaster Recovery) Steady State/Checks


• Create DR (Disaster Recovery) Process (Design)


• Participate in basic (primarily tape) DR (Disaster Recovery) Exercise (Test)


• Participate in complex DR (Disaster Recovery) Exercise (Test)


• Execute DR (Disaster Recovery) (TRUE DISASTER)


• PLAN changes for future BUR Server Requirements


• Plan/Coordinate COMmission/DECOMmission library hardware


• Plan new releases of BUR Backup software


• Plan for new releases of BUR Software


• Perform ID management • Create, Implement, and Manage Scripts


• Install hardware driver upgrades


• Apply encryption for backups


• Perform general administration activities in support of backups


• Maintain Documentation; Recovery Standards, Policies,Procedure

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
