Job Description

This Demand Planning position is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with Service Catalogue resources for which IBM has technical responsibilities to manage.

 

The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast model(s) for the customer, incorporating market intelligence, any business intelligence feeds, forecast information gathered from customer sources (any or all methods such as via  regular interviews or surveys, or from automated data feeds from business systems or Data Warehouse).

 

This position is works closely with the Capacity Planners, Service Continuity Manager, Service Level Manager, IT Financial Planning positions within the IBM and Customer Organisations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Procurement activities


• Interact with customer business, technical and finance areas to understand demand forecast drivers.


• Develop demand forecasts system design.


• Utilise a collaborative and consensus approach to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.


• Prepare forecast data


• Develop or arrange implementation for all required new forecast data feeds. Enhance any existing data feeds to improve forecast model accuracy or frequency, as and when necessary.


• Develop statistical forecast models and evaluate forecast results.


• Review historical trends and research demand drivers


• Analyse and reconcile significant variances.


• Use (and ensure maintained) any Demand Planning software, which is used as the primary forecasting system toolset.


• Provide input to the Supply Planning areas in developing inventory strategies for new or existing service catalogue products, as well as for  phase-outs.
